Queen’s Gardens
The recently redeveloped Queen’s Gardens was originally the site of a disused railway line leading to the old Croydon Central Station. The Queen’s Gardens is located between the Town Hall & Fairfield Halls. An ideal location for your outdoor business headshot if you are living or working in the town centre.
With two levels, shooting in the Queens Gardens gives a backdrop of greenery. Moving just a few steps & changing the camera angle introduces some of Croydon’s iconic buildings or modern developments into the background. This gives you variety & diversity in your images.
Early morning is the best time to shoot in The Queen’s Gardens before it becomes busy. On a sunny day, it’s a popular lunchtime spot!
Lloyd Park
Lloyd Park is named after newspaper magnate Frank Lloyd. His family bequeathed the land to the borough of Croydon. It provides a diverse range of backdrops for outdoor business headshots. Wide-open spaces, long grass & patches of protected woodland for a rural & natural feel. Or the brick & metal of the sports pavilion for a splash of urban inspiration.
Just three stops east on the tram from East Croydon Station, Lloyd Park is the perfect Croydon photoshoot location. Free parking is available. There is also a cafe for post-shoot coffee!
Coombe Wood Gardens
Coombe Wood Gardens is one of Croydon’s hidden gems. A small woodland & garden, part of the old Coombe Estate. The gardens are divided into a series of ‘rooms’. Together give an all-year-round display of shrubs & plants set against a woodland backdrop.
With manicured lawns, colourful flowers, ornamental gardens & woodland there is a staggering choice of backdrops for your headshot. A covered shelter & several surrounding walls provide a contrasting urban environment.
With a cafe, public toilets & parking on-site, Coombe Wood Gardens is four stops on the tram from East Croydon Station. It is a great secluded location for business headshots.
Park Hill Recreation Ground
Previously the site of Croydon reservoir & was home to a grade II listed historic Water Tower. The land became a public park in the 1880s. It was renamed Park Hill in the 1960s.
With a walled garden, sheltered areas, green spaces & colourful flowers, and the Croydon skyline in the distance. Park Hill Recreation Ground provides an array of photographic opportunities for business headshots.
Across the road from East Croydon Station & a short walk from South Croydon. PHRG is an easily accessible shoot location for those living & working in Central Croydon.
South Norwood Country Park
Slightly further afield, South Norwood Country Park is an area that has undergone many changes during its long history. From ancient woodland to farming during the war years to a sewage farm & a refuse dump. Since 1989 it has been a rural haven in the middle of South Norwood.
A mix of countryside & parkland with some small wooded areas. SNCP is a quiet & secluded outdoor space for your photoshoot. Home to Croydon Arena & a small Information Centre. As with many of Croydon’s parks, there are hints of urban amongst the rural. This gives diversity to your photos.
Accessible by car with free parking. Six stops on the tram from East Croydon Station & next to Elmers End mainline. South Norwood Country Park is a great location for those wanting somewhere outside of Central Croydon for their business headshot.
