Personal Branding photography is SO much more than simply turning up & snapping a photo. Here are some of the most common questions I get asked.
What should I wear?
This is such a popular question, I have written a whole blog post on dressing for a branding shoot.
If you want some guidance in selecting your clothing, I can recommend several personal stylists who can advise you on complementary colours & styles to wear with your skin tone & body shape.
Can you recommend someone to do my hair & makeup?
Yes, I can! Her name is Victoria Chainey & she is fabulous! Local to Croydon, she has worked with me on several personal branding photography shoots, both here & throughout London.
What should I do while you are taking my photo? How do I stand?
Don’t worry, I will guide you through the whole process.
During a branding shoot, we will capture a variety of poses, some standing, some sitting & some moving. A branding shoot is all about telling the story of your business & so many of the photos will be natural action shots of you ‘doing’ things.
After a few minutes, you will forget the camera is there as you work away on your laptop, chat with your team, mix the cake batter, or move through a yoga flow.
For any additional posed photos, I’ll guide you on how to sit or stand in a way that flatters your figure & show you what to do with your hands and feet. I’ll also direct you on where to look to capture the best facial expressions & help you pose with confident, positive body language.
I usually take these ‘posed’ photos in the latter stages of the shoot when you are feeling relaxed & comfortable in front of the camera.

Where will the shoot take place?
The whole ethos of personal branding photography is to tell the story of your business & so the best locations for your shoot are the places you work. That could be a shared office space, in your home, remotely in a coffee shop, the gym, studio, or your own shop.
Including two or three locations in your shoot is a good idea, with one location being outdoors. This may be as simple as the street in front of your office or the park where you train clients.
I get it, though, your real-life working space may not be suitable for photos or may not be the image you want to project. Offices in shared spaces can be hired for a few hours & hotel foyers are a great business environment. Cafes give a relaxed vibe & sleek apartments can be rented for the day.
If you are struggling to find a location, I can suggest some of my favourite places. And not just in my hometown of Croydon, as I do personal branding photography throughout London, Surrey & the South East!
What do I need to bring to my personal branding shoot?
This is by no means an exhaustive list, but I’d recommend bringing the following;
- Hairbrush or comb, a selection of hairbands & grips & some hairspray.
- Make-up kit including a translucent or matte powder to touch up your make-up if needed.
- Vaseline or lip gloss – dry lips in photos are not a good look!
- Toothbrush – especially if your shoot is after lunch!
- Tissues & anti-bacterial hand gel.
- Your pre-selected ironed outfits, not forgetting the shoes!
- Accessories: hats, scarves, sunglasses, jewellery, etc.
- Props, what business-related props do you need? We will have discussed this during our planning meeting, but items such as a laptop, notebook, pen, water bottle, yoga mat, etc.
- Water, coffee & snacks – Being a model can be hungry work!
And yes, this does mean you may be turning up to your shoot with a suitcase, but I can guarantee my bag will still be bigger than yours!
How long will the shoot last?
The duration of your shoot will range from one to six hours, depending on the package you choose.
Because we will have planned your shoot, we will have plenty of time to capture the images you want. If needed, extra hours can be added for an additional cost.
I suggest booking a little extra time in your own schedule, especially before your shoot. This gives you time to perfect your outfit, style your hair & do your make-up so that you arrive feeling fresh & ready to go.
I will arrive early & I do not clock watch. I make sure I get the shots before I finish. Sometimes this may mean we are overrun by a few minutes, so I recommend not booking anything immediately after your shoot.
How much does a Personal Branding photoshoot cost & how do I pay?

Payment is due before your shoot. Booking & payment are done online. It’s easy & straightforward & takes moments to do. You will receive proof of payment via email.
When will I see my photos?
You’ll receive a link to a private online gallery within two weeks of your shoot with information on selecting & downloading your chosen photos.
