A relaxed guide for nervous clients
If the idea of stepping in front of a camera makes you feel a little uneasy, you’re definitely not alone. For most people, it’s not that they hate having their photo taken… It’s just that they don’t really know what to expect during a headshot session.
And honestly? The unknown is usually the worst bit.
So let me show you how it actually works and why it might be a lot more relaxed (and even enjoyable) than you think.
First things first… You won’t be left to figure it out
Don’t worry, I’ve got your back.
You’re not expected to turn up knowing how to pose, where to look, or what to do with your hands. That’s my job.
From the moment you book, I guide you through the whole process, from choosing the right colours and outfits to helping you feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera.
Before the shoot: getting clear on you
Before we even pick up a camera, we’ll chat about how you want to come across.
Whether you’re an individual or part of a larger team, we’ll explore things like:
- Your brand values
- Your personality
- How do you want people to feel when they see your photo
This is what makes the difference between a “nice photo” and an image that actually works for your business.
On the day: a guided, collaborative process
When it’s time for your shoot, I’ll guide you through everything.
I’ll show you:
- How to stand
- Where to look
- Small adjustments that make a big difference
You don’t need to perform or “be good in photos”, you just need to show up. I’ll take care of the rest.
It’s very much a collaboration. We work together to create something that feels natural and true to you.
You’ll see what we’re creating (no nasty surprises)
One of the biggest worries people have is, “What if I hate the photos?”
That’s why I show you images as we go.
You’ll be able to see how you’re coming across, make tweaks if needed, and build confidence as the shoot progresses.
Most people start the session feeling a bit unsure… and leave thinking, “Oh! I actually look like me and I look good.”
In this short behind-the-scenes video, you’ll see exactly what happens during a real headshot session, from first frames to the final image.
Every shoot is different… but the process stays the same
The video above shows a corporate headshot session with Scaramanga Marketing, shot against a clean white background.
Your shoot might look different; it could be in your office, outdoors, or somewhere that reflects your brand.
But the process? Always the same.
It’s about collaboration, communication and creating images that feel right for you.
It’s just a conversation (with a camera)
Someone once said that a photoshoot is simply a conversation between you, me, and the camera.
“…a photoshoot is simply a conversation between you, me, and the camera.”
And when you think about it like that… it feels a lot less intimidating.
Because at the heart of it, that’s all it is.
A relaxed, guided conversation, where you’re supported every step of the way.
If you’re feeling a bit nervous & not sure what to expect at your own headshot session, that’s completely normal.
But hopefully now, you know exactly what to expect… and that you won’t be doing it alone.
